For those who are avid fans of the Sarawakian midin belacan, you'll definitely need this in your kitchen...

Our sambal chilli paste is made from dried chillies, dried shrimps, shallot, garlic and locally-sourced belacan. It is aromatic, savoury and slightly spicy, which definitely goes well with all kinds of local vegetables, such as midin, paku, eggplant, okra, young corn, long beans, tapioca leaves, you name it... or you can even saute with seafood too!!

What's more is that it definitely saves up your time and energy to prepare the whole lot of ingredients and going through the hassle of pestle-and-mortar-ing it everytime just to cook a simple meal at home.

TWO spoonfuls is more than enough for a simple vege stir-fry. Another cooking tip, you may want to try adding some coconut milk to create a local 'sayur lemak'... Try it to know it!!

SARAWAK BAMBOO CHICKEN

Ayam Pansuh or Manuk Pansuh is a dish prepared by cooking chicken meat in a bamboo stalk filled with water, seasonings and covered with tapioca leaves from the cassava plant together with some other ingredients of jungle produce. It is a typical dish prepared by the Ibans and the Bidayuhs from western Borneo during festivities, especially during the Gawai Dayak thanksgiving festival marking a bountiful harvest.

The fragrance from the tapioca leaves, tepus and lemongrass adds an extraordinary aroma to the sweetness of the chicken soup, that makes it a unique dish of Borneo which is non-searchable in places outside of this land.

In this society when cooking time is limited, we have specially made this dish available in vacuum-sealed packages to make meal preparation a lot more simpler and time-saving for those who truly crave for the flavours of native Borneo cuisine.
